Our current premises is too small now to cater for our needs. We now rent a hall from the Lincoln City Council to perform Friday, Eid prayers, Muslim gatherings and lectures. We are desperately in need of a new Mosque and Muslim Community Centre (MCC) where we can:
-
Perform our 5 daily prayers
-
Perform Friday and Eid prayers
-
Perform Taraweeh prayers
-
Arrange daily Muslim school (Madrassah) for boys and girls.
Present school has grown to about 30 students (boys and girls) in the last 2-3 years. Children from five years of age are taught the Arabic language, Quran, Hadith, Seerah and Muslim history in our school. The Islamic teaching to our children is absolutely necessary. We are keen to maintain our Madrassah to ensure that our children get a well-rounded knowledge of the Deen..
-
Arrange regular Muslim men and women activities
-
Arrange regular Muslim senior citizen’s activities
-
To make the MCC a focal point of youth and student activities (boys and girls), especially for the teaching of Quran and Hadith.
-
To make the MCC a centre of Da’wa for Lincolnshire. Insha’Allah, this will be done with the aid of modern audio-visual communications and networking systems.
The Islamic Association of Lincoln purchased former St. Matthews Church, Boultham Park Road, Lincoln to convert to Lincoln mosque and Muslim community centre in 2007. The Association would like to thank all those brothers and sisters who donated generously in purchasing the building. We collected over £60,000 in just a few months. The Association obtained planning permission and listed building consent in July 2008 to start renovation work but unfortunately the building was completely destroyed by fire on 29 August 2008, which was the result of an arson attack.
The Association has been working very closely with Lincoln City Council from last year to develop plans for a purpose-built mosque at the same site. Based on feedback from the City Council, we had submitted planning application to obtain formal approval. This was unfortunately declined as the traffic expected to be generated as a result was assessed as inflicting unacceptable harm on the local resident's reasonable amenities. It was estimated that building cost would have cost in the region of £800,000. The Association has over £150,000 and would require planning permission and significant funds to re-start the project.
We are therefore seeking brothers who would like to donate towards this cause. Please donate generously. This, according to islamic belief, is indeed an opportunity to build your house in paradise as mentioned in a verse from Quran below:
"The parable of those who spend their monies in the way of ALLAH is that of a grain of corn! Its gives seven ears, and each ear has a hundred grains, ALLAH gives manifold increase to whom He pleases and Allah cares for all and He knows all things"Al-Quran
The Prophet (SAW) said, "Whoever helps to build a Mosque, Allah will build for him a house in Paradise."
Insha-Allah, we are planning to have main prayer hall, separate hall for sisters, hall, class rooms for boys and girls for teaching of Quran, religion, language and culture, kitchen, offices, library and ablution facilities (both for brothers and sisters). Islamic literature, tapes etc. will be available for Da’wa and to create a better understanding between the Muslims and non-Muslims in the county at all times. There will be guided tours and lecturers for non-Muslims as well.
We are very much in need of funds and would like to sincerely request help for this noble project, so we can obtain the pleasure of Allah, improve our community and brotherhood but most importantly to bring all Muslims under one roof
Thank you, and may Allah reward you all, Ameen,
The Islamic Association of Lincoln
